Goin Fishin

I love to fish…

If you were to give me the day off and tell me to do whatever it is that is truly restful, that energizes me, or just makes me feel better generally…I would go fishing.

I don’t do it enough.  As a husband, dad, employee, and a student there is just too much other important stuff going on right?

Maybe that’s not true.

Ministry Horsepower

Well…we just go back from camp.

It was incredible.  We do a weekend camp called Boot Camp for our 6th graders.  Our goal is to introduce the kids and leaders to how we do Xtreme as well as to give the groups a jump start on community.  The building blocks of relationship are shared quality experiences and we pack a bunch of those into one awesome weekend.

I was as thorough as I could be.  When  you let a teacher go you can expect a bunch of backlash…right?  It was basically a non-event after the hard stuff was over.  No one complained.  No one yelled.

My boss at the time told me that when nobody complains about a leadership decision…you waited too long.

He’s right. But that doesn’t help me with what I want to know as a leader.  I want to know how to know when to make a decision.  He didn’t have an answer for me for that one though…

During my time as a Principal…I was also the calculus teacher one period a day.  Would you believe that I found my answer there?

Selling What’s Important – Part 2

This is part 2 of a two part post on ways to recruit leaders.

You can read Part 1 HERE.

There are basically three main ways to get leaders. A Big Push, catching “Show-Ups”, and leaders replacing themselves.  I tried to keep with the sales theme below.
