Making C’s

A few years back, the big and hip idea in leadership discussions was the idea of working to your strengths.

This was and is a great concept and, as I stated by including a book about it on my Butt Kickin Book List, an important concept to understand as a leader. It’s not as hip as it was…but still very important.

Along with this discussion came an annoying, but related conversation.

To illustrate this, let me tell you a story.

Butt Kickin Book List

I’ve had a bunch of folks ask about books.  I’m not reading much outside of seminary books lately but I wanted to give you some of my favorites.  I may blog about each of these at some point, but for now, here they are.  Get started!

Each of these books has shaped my leadership significantly…and in many ways…Kicked my butt!

Isn’t it amazing how simple and how illusive a vision can be?

Writing Music

My wife and I went to Nashville this weekend to see some friends and celebrate 13 years of marriage.  We had an amazing time getting away.

One of the things we got to do was to have dinner at The Bluebird Cafe.  If you’ve never heard of it, here is what you need to know.  It is basically where you go to listen to song writers perform their songs. You might think that is pretty normal, but it really isn’t.  Many times, when you go to listen to a band you rarely are going to hear the song writers play their songs.  You’re listening to the singers sing somebody elses songs.

I think I learned something about leadership there…

Let me set the stage for you.
