There are basically three main ways to get leaders. A Big Push, catching “Show-Ups”, and leaders replacing themselves. I tried to keep with the sales theme below.
Let me be clear right of the bat.
That being said…your priority needs to be that.
Normally when I talk about the job of getting leaders I talk about treating it like a job interview. You can’t be desperate…and you can’t take just anybody. You have to find the right people. I meant that…and still do.
For this post however…I want you to think like a salesmen. Not that you need to sell the job…but you have to think like a salesmen thinks.
Here’s how a salesmen thinks.
So…Everybody needs something and there’s only so much to get. How do the people who decide…decide? Who gets the resources?I don’t know how it works in your organization but there are some basic principles to keep in mind to ensure that you don’t do something to mess it up for your area. This isn’t a post about taking away from others…it is a post about not giving it away because you were stupid.

Well…Here we are in the calm after and before the storm. Student folks have finished camps and we’re gearing up for back to school. There are two things I love to do during this time.
#1. Get my budget figured out for the upcoming year…I love to be prepared when “they” ask!
#2. Look at our Curriculum for the next year and set a rough schedule to start thinking about.
While I haven’t written a post on #2…I plan to. But for now I thought it would be good to review an old post about how to “Get Stuff” and write a budget.
